The new Erasmus+ project Global Citizenship and Multilingual Competences (GCMC) has just started!
Global Citizenship and Multilingual Competences (GCMC) is an Erasmus+ project the University of Graz is part of. Its aim is to raise teacher awareness for Global Citizenship Education (GCE) and to provide online resources for secondary teachers on integrating global citizenship goals and plurilingual pedagogies.
Global citizenship education has become important for teachers across all subjects. It is even explicitly part of one of the 17 UNESCO global or sustainable development goals (SDGs). Integrating multilingual approaches into regular lessons will promote cross-cultural awareness, and benefit students and teachers.
The objectives of the GCMC project therefore are:
- to explicitly integrate the multilingual perspective into a social justice informed notion of GCE
- to uncover examples of good practice of teaching GCE and plurilingual approaches
- to empower teachers of all subjects to integrate GCE goals with a plurilingual approach into their regular teaching
