Language teachers' psychological knowledge
Participation information sheet
Dear Language Teacher,
Thank you for your interest in our research. We are very grateful to you for taking the time to participate in this study. Please take the time to read the following information sheet carefully, and do not hesitate to ask if something is unclear or you would like further information.
The purpose of the research is to understand what language teachers in secondary education believe that they need to know about the psychology of language learning and teaching. We would like to invite you to take part in an online focus group session, which will last approx. 60-90 minutes.
The focus group sessions will take place using Zoom and be audio recorded, but no visual data will be collected. The language of the focus group sessions will be English, so participation is contingent on having at least a B2-level English proficiency. The research team will take notes during the sessions. The audio data will be transcribed and anonymized at the time of transcription. We will not use your name or other personal data that could be used to identify you. However, obviously, as these focus groups will take place online in a Zoom room, you will be identifiable to other participants unless you keep your camera switched off and ensure your name is anonymized at login.
Participation in this project is completely voluntary. Even if you agree to participate now, you can withdraw at any time until the end of the data collection without giving a reason. There are no anticipated risks associated with taking part in this study. All information is treated confidentially. Records for this study will only be stored on password-protected computers. All data is anonymized. Only anonymized data extracts will be used in publications or presentations about the project. The results will be presented at training events and conferences and published in specialist journals.
