Our staff is well recognised for their research, both nationally and internationally, and we collaborate with researchers all over the world. Our research expertise informs and focuses our teaching, and students are given the opportunity to participate in some of our research.
Research in the department is divided into its four main subject areas. Please click on the subject area to get to the relevant research pages.
We have a number of research facilities and resources available in our department. We have a dedicated language laboratory, with 24 computers kitted out with headphones for running perception experiments and annotating and analysing language corpora. This language laboratory is also used for practising listening and pronunciation skills.
We also have speech research laboratory with a state-of-the-art soundproof recording studio, with a professional audio recording system. In addition, we have an E-Prime and Chronos license to design, collect, and analyse data for psycholinguistic studies.
Our research has received media coverage in national and international newspapers, radio and television. See HERE what has appeared in the press.
