What is the difference between a degree awarding institution and a mobility partner?
Degree awarding institutions are entitled to award the Joint Degree. Students must choose their entrance university when applying for the programme and must be enrolled at their entrance university. The obligatory mobility semester can be spent either at a degree awarding institution or at one of the mobility partners.
Mobility partners do not award the Joint Degree. The ECTS credits gained will be counted towards the award of the Joint Degree at the student’s entrance university. Students should rank their mobility preferences when applying for the programme.
Special regulations for the Double Degree Agreement between Barcelona and Venice:
In case you want to choose the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona as your entrance university, you can only spend your mobility at Ca' Foscar University Venice. For furtherinformation please consult the following WEBSITE.
In case you choose Ca' Foscari University as your entrance university and the Universitàt de Barcelona as your mobility university, you have the opportunity to get a double degree.
Please note that in this case special regulations apply: Students will spend the second year at UAB, where, following the 30 ECTS they will obtain from taught courses, they will also be required to write a dissertation (30-50 pages) on a theme agreed with a supervisor in UAB. The dissertation carries 12 ECTS. This is in addition to the final degree thesis which students will have to write for Ca' Foscari, and presents an opportunity for them to do background research into a theme which will be relevant to their final thesis, as well as providing useful experience of extended academic writing.
