To the Section of Linguistics
English Linguistics at the Department of English Studies deals with various aspects of language. This includes the study of the English language, but also seeks to gain a general understanding of how language works, how we use language, how it develops, and what different languages have in common. Our section covers a wide range of topics in English linguistics, from theoretical to applied linguistics, including language acquisition, bilingualism/multilingualism, psycholinguistics, corpus linguistics, variation and change, cognitive-functional grammar, discourse analysis and pragmatics.
Our staff are experienced in teaching and offer introductory and advanced courses in their areas of specialization. Research in this area covers a wide range of fields and has an excellent reputation.
