The level that must be achieved is B2 (= Matura level). The placement test is carried out electronically via an external website. The placement test must be completed within 50 minutes, otherwise an automatic time out will occur and the studend fail the test (the time available will be displayed on the screen throughout the test). Students must score at least 75 points to pass the test.
Your personal access data will be sent to your student e-mail address (i.e. xy(at)edu.uni-graz.at) immediately before the test begins. It is therefore necessary that you have access to your student e-mail account, as otherwise you will not be able to take the test and there is NO alternative way of taking it.
Students with the study code B990 cannot take this test as they are not registered for a regular (Bachelor's) degree program!
The placement test consists of a grammar part and a listening part. For the latter, you will need headphones or a loudspeaker.
Please note: The placement test is entered as an examination date. This means that you must register directly for the exam - not for a course!
Grammar and exercise books are available in the subject library and cannot be borrowed.
